City of Chattanooga – Parks and Outdoors
Dazu Creative was honored to be selected by the City of Chattanooga Chattanooga Parks and Outdoors to develop a comprehensive signage system for Chattanooga’s parks, trails, and greenways. Designed in close collaboration with the department’s leadership and city staff, the system was created to unify wayfinding across Chattanooga’s 70+ parks and green spaces, enhancing the overall experience and accessibility of Chattanooga Parks and Outdoors for residents and visitors alike.
The project included a scalable family of signs with standards for directional signage, trail markers, park entry signs, interpretive panels, and accessibility features. Inspired by the city’s natural beauty, civic pride, and designation as North America’s first National Park City, the system emphasizes clarity, inclusivity, and environmental sensitivity.
After reviewing the final signage packet with Mayor Tim Kelly and the department’s staff designer, the city adopted the system as the official base for park signage across Chattanooga. From signature sites like Coolidge Park, Renaissance Park, and the Tennessee Riverwalk to urban trails and future greenways, the design enhances the visitor experience and supports Chattanooga’s commitment to outdoor recreation, environmental education, and community engagement.
